By using infrared radiation, the object absorbs infrared radiation and converts the radiation energy into heat energy and is heated.
Infrared light is an electromagnetic wave. In the solar spectrum, beyond the red end of visible light, is an invisible radiation energy. In the electromagnetic spectrum, the infrared wavelength ranges from 0.75 to 1000 microns and the frequency ranges from 3 *10 to 4 *10 hertz. In industrial applications, infrared spectra are often divided into several bands: 0.75-3.0 micron is near infrared region; 3.0-6.0 micron is mid-infrared region; 6.0-15.0 micron is far infrared region; 15.0-1000 micron is far infrared region. Different objects of cast aluminium heating ring have different ability to absorb infrared rays, even if the same object has different ability to absorb infrared rays at different wavelengths. Therefore, the application of infrared heating, according to the type of heated object, must select the appropriate infrared radiation source, so that its radiation energy is concentrated in the absorbed wavelength range of the heated object, in order to obtain a good heating effect.
Electrical infrared heating is actually a special form of resistance heating, that is, using tungsten, iron-nickel or nickel-chromium alloy as radiators to make radiation sources. After electrification, heat radiation is produced because of resistance heating. The common electric infrared heating radiation sources are lamp type (reflection type), tube type (quartz tube type) and plate type (plane type). The lamp type is an infrared light bulb with tungsten filament as radiator. The tungsten filament is sealed in a glass shell filled with inert gas, just like a common lighting bulb. When the radiator is electrified, it heats up (the temperature is lower than that of the general lighting bulb), which emits a large amount of infrared radiation with a wavelength of about 1.2 micron.
